Preliminary slate of candidates for chapter election

According to the Chapter’s Standards for Nominations and Elections, the Secretary of the Board of Directors announces the preliminary slate and the petition process to the Chapter members through publication in the Chapter E-Newsletter. The petition process allows members to add their name to the slate by submitting a petition to the NLIC Committee within 30 days of the

Please mail nominations by petition to:

Practice Perspectives

Addressing the Educational Needs of Older Youth - Access to higher education has become increasingly essential to obtain economic independence and success in today’s labor market. As the cost of living increases, the need for higher education will become even more important, especially for the 28,000 young people transitioning out of foster care. Unfortunately, young people in foster care have to face multiple challenges to access higher education. They often lack financial stability; access to secure housing; and critical resources such as health care, transportation, or emergency funds. Despite these challenges, more than 80% of foster youth hope to experience postsecondary education.
